Abstract
Exfoliated graphite (EG) was prepared by chemical oxidation and microwave irradiation. The materials were characterized by SEM, XRD and XPS. The results indicated that there are many pores inside the worm-like particles. The exfoliation volume of EG prepared by microwave irradiation could reach 276 mL ·g-1 and the sulfur content drop to 0.12%. Effect of sorption of Rhodamine B (RhB) and engine oil were investigated by UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. The sorption of RhB and engine oil in acidic conditions was excelled alkaline and neutral conditions. The optimum EG dosage was 0.625 g ·L-1, the lower the initial concentration of RhB, the faster the discoloration. The maximum sorption capacity of EG for engine oil could reach 17.9 g/g.
