Abstract :
In this work, we study the effect of plasma on the spectral properties of hydrogenic and helium-like ions. The overall effect of a plasma background is, in general, to produce a screened potential seen by the valence atomic electrons. Then we implement a numerical procedure based on the variational formalism and the finite element method (FEM) to solve the radial part of Schrödinger equation.
