  • Abstract
    A single fibre, two-moded interferometer is described. A nonlinear switch based on this interferometer is demonstrated in which a probe signal from an argon ion laser is modulated by a dye laser pump signal which induces a change in refractive index through the optical Kerr effect. A power-length (PL) product for 100% modulation of the probe of 380 Wm has been measured
