Investment for improved supply security

In a period when high interest charges and high labour costs coincide, investments dedicated to a sole objective of widespread improvements of security on an initially sound 11 kV overhead power system are often difficult to support. The authors report on the long term measures initiated as part of a distribution asset replacement programme by the South of Scotland Electricity Board and the opportunities presented by this investment to achieve improved supply security
