Abstract :
This article introduces intrinsic motivation theory, social exchange theory and derives Pygmalion effect to explore how transformational leadership affects group creativity. We propose that transformational leadership have positive effects on group creativity. We also believe that group competitive climate which including inter-group competitive climate and intra-group competitive climate may be a substitute factor or offset factor of leadership. Therefore, group competitive climate may play a moderator role between transformational leadership and group creativity: inter-group competitive climate always strengthen the impact of transformational leadership on group creativity, and in the intra-group competitive climate, the impact of transformational leadership on group creativity would change according to a first growth and drop soon. Finally, we discuss implications of these studies for research and practice.
