Abstract
This paper presents four examples of the implementation of the digital signal processing algorithms found in modem mobile communication systems. Specifically, some of the high processing overhead algorithms from the North American IS54 cellular telephony standard are examined for an understanding of their functional requirements. The four algorithms, VSELP codebook search, VSELP 10 pole filter, FEC convolutional encoder and FEC Viterbi trellis decoder, are presented from an applications programmer´s view, with discussion of algorithmic techniques and architectural requirements
