Abstract :
The authors suggest a new method of calculation of the matrix of complex reflection and transparency coefficients for an arbitrary ionospheric layer, either magnetized or isotropic. The main advantage of this approach compared with other methods is connected with taking into consideration the overbarrier reflection and tunnel-effect. The profile of electron concentration and effective collision frequency can be arbitrary, and the layer thickness can reach more than millions of wavelengths. If the reflection and transparency coefficients are calculated over sufficiently wide frequency ranges one can calculate the distortions of signals reflected by the ionosphere and the radiowave fields using Fourier transformation
