Abstract :
We devised and fabricated a modulation-level-selectable (from 4, 8, and 16 levels) optical modulator. A novel lattice configuration enables dynamic modulation-level switching simply by using tunable optical couplers as well as mitigating the modulation losses. Operations at 20-Gbaud were successful.
