Abstract :
A new hybrid method for designing microwave filters with thick irises is presented. It is based on: (1) the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) analysis of the discontinuity near the region of the sharp discontinuity; (2) the time-domain diakoptics method for characterizing the time-domain response of the whole discontinuity; and (3) the frequency synthesis method for calculating the K-values of inverters. The results show good agreement with other design methods
