Information system development for strategic management of an electricity supply utility

The authors describe the features of an information technology architecture established at Prospect Electricity for the delivery of strategic computing systems. The underlying philosophy is also discussed with a view to defining a specific electricity supply industry information technology architecture based on the experienced gained. The information technology architecture is based on three layers defining the technology, data and application. The layers combine to form a powerful but flexible structure in which to address organisation wide information technology requirements. The critical success factors for the implementation are highlighted to guide organisations considering a similar path
