Aspects on an integrated distribution management system

An integrated distribution management system (DMS) can provide the utilities with the functionality and upgrade flexibility that will be required to meet the emerging challenges imposed by the free energy markets. The benefits from integrating the corporate information systems on a common platform is outlined and discussed. Then the realization of an integrated DMS environment is addressed, and it is shown how the open system architecture of the SPIDER DMS facilitates the vertical and horizontal integration of the different corporate information systems. Finally, the data engineering tools supporting the data management coordination on this integrated environment are described
