Abstract
To formally represent enterprise information system (EIS) and solve the information explosion based on KM approach, this paper presents new approach based on the object-based knowledge mesh (OKM), and detailly studies the differences and relationship between the two approaches. To this end, based on KM theory, new concepts of OKM and the information transfer relationship mesh (ITRM) are proposed as well as their mathematical descriptions. Then, the difference between KM and OKM is discussed as well as their transferring algorithms. And then, based on KM and OKM, the differences in formal representation steps of EIS are explored in detail. Finally the formal representation approaches are exemplified by an EIS used in a plant, which shows the difference of the two methods.
