Abstract
This paper reports on the feasibility study of a proton superconducting linac as the driver for an Accelerator-based Continuous Neutron Source (ACNS) to be located at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). The Linac is to be operated in the continuous wave (CW) mode to produce an average 10 MW of beam power. The linac beam energy is taken to be 1.25 GeV. The required average proton beam intensity in exit is then 8 mA.
