Abstract
Policies for accessing a packet radio network, under the assumptions of the L -channel CDMA (code division multiple access) model and nonunity receiver idle probability, are proposed, and analytical tools to evaluate their performances are developed. These policies and tools are applicable to random access packet radio networks, such as the radio determination satellite service (RDSS) systems, which require wideband or spread-spectrum techniques, but carrier sense, collision detection, and busy-tones techniques are inapplicable. These results are extended to general packet radio networks
