Abstract :
A multimatrix semiactive antenna has been selected for the ESA project SAT-2 for communications with mobiles at 1.5/1.6 GHz. In a typical configuration, six fixed beams cover western Europe, while movable beams can be used for the rest of the coverage. Each beam uses three feeds: one feed is shared between adjacent fixed beams, and one or two between adjacent movable beam positions. A global beam can also be generated. A possible configuration for the front-end to be associated with 5.5-in offset reflector is shown. Computed isodirectivity contours are presented.<>
