Abstract :
The suitability assessment system for cash crops production was developed for the comprehensive utilization of natural resources and the optimization of the crops production structure. As a widely used hi-tech with a powerful function of geo-analysis, GIS demonstrated its potential in map visualization and spatial analysis after combined with suitability assessment models. In this project ArcView was used and the suitability assessment model of multivariate linear regression was developed. For 96 basic assessment units of villages/towns in downstream areas of Lancang River, Yunnan Province, China, the suitability of 14 tropic cash crops was assessed, the assessment result were mapped and the spatial distribution of crops´ suitability was analyzed.
