Abstract
Alternative approaches for alias-free sampling structure conversion are considered. A formulation is given which can be utilized to perform decimation and interpolation filtering in the transform domain of an arbitrary orthogonal transform. The selection of transform and filtering specification, and the effects in image quality are also discussed. The multirate filtering problem is shown to consist of two phases: (1) selection of transform and (2) selection of linearly independent set of the subsampled basis functions
