Abstract :
The operation of a safe ship relies on the success of the occupied operating system. This paper shows a model of a reliability analysis in the System Dynamics (SD) simulation in order to recognize a potential failure and prevent a functional failure of maintainable items of ship machinery components. The simulated machinery component is the pump which is operated in the cooling system of the main engine, lubricating oil system and fuel oil system. The output of SD simulation is probability and consequence of failure for risk prioritization of maintainable items. This model realized that each component has a substantial influence on overall system reliability. Risk prioritization subsequently is important for maintenance management to obtain a reliable ship operation. Total cost, which is comprised of operation cost, maintenance cost and penalty cost, is minimized. The proposed model reduces the total pump operation cost by forecasting the reliability index (RI) of maintainable items in its operation time so the penalty cost can be avoided.
