Abstract
The author addresses the problem of building a state observer for a linear system whose output suffers from clipping. The problem is considered in discrete time. A sufficient condition for asymptotic observability is derived in terms of the design parameters. It is shown that positive reality of an associated linear system guarantees asymptotic observability
