Abstract
A comparison is made of the near slot radiation from a metal box using TLM and the Numerical Electromagnetics Code (NEC), integral equation method. Using TLM for predictions of distant field strengths produces extremely large computational requirements, while it is well suited to an analysis of enclosed structures. A reasonable level of agreement between both methods allows for the use of NEC to generate an accurate transfer function relating near slot predictions from TLM to observed open-area test site performance. Full account is taken of site ground plane effects, with reasonably-sized TLM computational requirements
