Abstract :
This work successfully demonstrates SOA-based optical switches that utilize optical filtering techniques at ultrahigh bit rates up to 640 Gbit/s. A simple condition for the minimum bit pattern length is derived and an effective method for simulating patterning effects is introduced. This method is then used to analyse a specific configuration for high-speed signal processing.
