Abstract
Radar environment simulation techniques are required to subject automatic ESM (electronic support measure) systems and their operators to real time test scenarios which would otherwise only be available during expensive trials. Simulators may be used to verify the integrity of system antennas, receivers, processing algorithms and interfaces, as well as to train operators, The type of simulator selected will depend on which part of the ESM system is to be exercised. The author describes the simulation functions and the interfacing to the system under test by way of digital simulation, video simulation, injected RF simulation and radiated RF simulation
