Abstract
The ability of polymeric materials to perform as high voltage insulation is now beyond question. The last quarter century has seen rapid development of polymer compositions for insulators, cables and cable accessories. The technology of conferring on chosen polymers the necessary functional characteristics is now well understood and there can be confidence that the electricity supply industry target of 40 years service life can be readily achieved with the right materials
