Abstract
Modern quality systems require that after a suitable time interval (normally referred to as the calibration interval) an instrument is recalibrated, in order to verify that the product still performs to the published warranted specifications (i.e. to assure the continued accuracy of the product). The need to know the `actual´ measured value and the associated uncertainty is discussed and the problem of using the `significantly out of tolerance´ classification is considered
