Abstract
In the present contribution we study an alternative concept by using silver-nanoparticles composites, exhibiting an intrinsically high nonlinear coefficient. Far from the plasmon resonance, this coefficient is about seven orders of magnitude higher than in fused silica. Since the local electric field in metal nanoparticles is enhanced at the plasmonic resonance, the metal nonlinear response can be additionally significantly enlarged as the wavelength shifts towards this resonance.
