Abstract
A study over three years for the design and manufacture of an imaging phased array antenna to provide European multiple spot beam coverage has included extensive trade-off activities, and resulted in the choice of a dual shaped imaging system for breadboarding. This paper presents an overview of the ESTEC active Ku band antenna programme. The design and performance of the antenna are presented. The results of the trade-off study are also summarised
