  • Abstract
Ubiquitous videos are commonly produced by users with devices containing cameras, typically connected to wireless networks. An increasing number of web-based video repositories provide facilities for users to upload, share and comment user-generated content. Ubiquitous computing applications may be exploited in this scenario to allow users to experience novel forms of social interactions. The literature presents guidelines and metrics for the evaluation of the sociability in online video applications, but the evaluation of the underlying social interactions have not been reported. Observing that social interactions can specified as behavioral contingencies, i.e., modeled as if-then rules which describe what people do, and measured using data mining procedures, we have been investigating a novel technique for codifying and evaluating social interactions. In this paper we report results from applying our technique in a user study involving the synchronous and asynchronous sharing of collaborative annotations on ubi-videos: we could clearly observe the frequency use support and utility measures.
