Abstract
An attempt is made to identify, for the casual or new user, the supply-side, demand-side, and economic pitfalls to be avoided when applying least-cost concepts to electric generation capacity planning. Suggestions for avoiding many pitfalls are provided. Also, the author identifies factors that one should find, or want to question if not found, in a least-cost planning study
