Abstract
In this paper, Scottish Hydro´s pedigree as a proven renewable energy generator is restated, its future in the UK is reviewed with reference to its environmental performance and its value to the grid system. Whether the EC carbon and energy tax or similar instruments should improve the economics of Hydro relative to other technologies is also considered. Finally, a view of the financial engineering of Scottish Hydro is presented
