Abstract
Within the scope of the DRIVE & PROMETHEUS programs, there are many systems being developed to provide information to aid the driver. However, can the driver deal with all this additional information? Might this information, designed to aid the driver, be too much to cope with & so conversely be a hinderance, increasing the likelihood of accidents? The author describes how the ARIADNE project believes that there is a danger of driver information systems causing driver overload. It therefore is concerned with developing an intelligent driver interface to prevent such a situation arising
