DC feeding system suitable for rolling stocks with re-generative braking system utilizing thyristor rectifier

In the DC electric railways of Japan, most of the new electric rolling stock has re-generative braking. For the re-generative brake which acts reliably and saves energy by utilizing re-generative power, the authors produced a feeding rectifier with feeding voltage control using a thyristor, and introduced it on a commercial line. There is about a 5% decrease in consumed power at the substation equipped with this rectifier
