Abstract
For future onboard processing (OBP) applications, regenerative satellite payloads are applied to recover and process the baseband data. The ESA OBP time switch (OBP T-switch) applies this principles with the aim of a flexible provision of links among different kinds of traffic and earth stations controllable by user demand. Therefore the uplinks, stemming from different kind of sources like TDM or TDMA, are restructured into smallest portions of informations of 32 bit, called frame units (FU´s), respectively 32 kbit/s channels within a TDM signal. These FU´s are subject to a time switching exchange which allows a switching function from any 32 kbit/s input channel to any 32 kbit/s output channel
