Upgrading the Anglo-Scottish Interconnector: plant construction stage

The review of the construction stage of the project considers the work carried out within Scotland to connect the new overhead line into the existing ScottishPower network. It briefly summarises the changes at the various existing substations involved and the construction of the new 400 kV substations at Kilmarnock South and Strathaven. The actual construction of the new overhead line is examined in detail through foundation installation, tower erection and wiring. An example of the work involved in carrying out three of the crossings of the existing line is considered
