Abstract
The author discusses the process and results of introducing computer-aided design (CAD) into a smaller engineering development group, averaging 25 people over the period considered. The company product line of high-speed automated equipment for photographic processing encompassed complex mechanical and electronic design elements. Both of these design areas were included in the full CAD facility developed. There is also considerable embedded and user interface software in the products. The implementation history is discussed, and management and operational considerations are reviewed
