Abstract
Deals with the analysis of optical data in order to obtain information about the sea-ice motion. Two aspects are specially outlined: the estimation of translational ice pack motion and the filtering of the instantaneous velocity field to detect and incorporate false matchings. Since the spatial density of the filtered field is irregularly distributed, the authors also introduce a stage of regularization. The computed result is a vector field with consistent local velocity characteristics
