Abstract
A method for the calculation of long-range monostatic volume, surface and bottom reverberation in a layered medium in the ray approach is developed. The problem is reduced to the integration of an expression in terms of couples of rays, that belong to different wave-front branches, over the waveguide depth. The additional contribution of coherent reverberation signals that travel along identical ray paths is taken into account by special means. Wave correction is introduced at caustics, providing elementary reverberation intensity values that are correct in the sense of its total magnitude. The method is validated using several tests that have exact analytical or alternative numerical solution
