Abstract
Increasingly organisations are required to invest in new technology to create an IT infrastructure. The question arises how to justify the infrastructure investment when the activities that generate the benefit are subject to future management decisions. If the decision has already been made then the benefits can be directly incorporated into the business justification. The goal of this paper is to draw attention to the application of option analysis, look at the impact of technical maturity on investment justification and review the position of concurrent art-to-product environments, CAPE
