Abstract
It is our contention that modern information technology should be applied to the teaching of undergraduate student laboratory classes, and that the application of the technology can learn from computer games. A number of computer simulations of laboratory experiments are being developed to this effect. Each experiment consists of a digitised video of the real experiment being conducted by an experienced technician, a graphical animation showing the internal workings of the apparatus, and an interactive graphical simulation with a mathematical model modelling the behaviour of the real equipment
