Meeting the needs of industry into the next millennium

A discussion document entitled `Review of Engineering Formation´ was issued in August 1993, and was intended to promote discussion in the following areas: structure and needs of industry; UK education and training system; international comparisons; occupational standards and N/SVQ system; and accountability and quality assessment. The author briefly discusses the contents of the discussion document and then discusses the findings of consultants in respect of future trends. A summary of the keypoints is given.
