Abstract
The author describes how, in the deregulated electricity market, much power will be traded in regional commodity exchanges. He argues that: electricity traders will need good bidding strategies to survive in competitive trading; and fuzzy logic provides a means of building adaptive bidding strategies. Current research has shown that genetic algorithms provide a convenient way of fine tuning and testing various bidding strategies and that GAs can also be used to perform intelligent data mining and can infer other´s bidding rules
