Abstract
An optoelectronic matrix-matrix multiplier has been implemented using electronically addressed spatial light modulators (SLMs) and computer generated holographic optical interconnection elements (CGHs). The design and fabrication of the optical interconnection elements using both diffractive and refractive technologies is discussed along with an evaluation of device performance. The operation of the matrix-matrix multiplier as a multi-layer perceptron is presented along with an analysis of performance accuracy for a character recognition application
