Abstract
Dissolved gas analysis, together with furfuraldehyde results, can be used for transformer condition monitoring. The practical usefulness of DGA as an aid to decision making when faults are developing or occurring is generally recognised. The increase of furfural content of the oil can be related to transformer ageing and may give valuable information in cases where the replacement of an asset is being considered. Monitoring the condition of the oil in oil-filled electrical equipment, followed where necessary by remedial can extend the life of the equipment
