Abstract
This paper outlines a number of possibilities for quasi-dynamic management of HF communication and broadcast systems. Radio Propagation Services, Ltd. has developed a flexible nowcasting and forecasting system that has been shown to be useful in the context of HF communication and broadcasting scenarios. While some data may be entered manually, the system is designed to be automatic. It uses sounder output and auxiliary data sets to provide near real-time ionospheric maps and communication performance parameters. The system described does not execute the adaptive functions; it simply provides the information upon which adaptivity decisions are made. A system of this type currently provides dynamic frequency management information in support of the worldwide HF data link system for civilian aviation purposes
