Abstract
The control of a static VAr compensator consists of a DC voltage loop and a reactive current loop. H∞ controllers realize decoupling of the two loops, quick response of the compensator, and guarantee superior robustness over PI type controllers. In this paper, the author presents the modeling of such a static VAr compensator, and its control with H∞ controllers, using a loop shaping design procedure and the mixed sensitivity optimization method
