Abstract
An electric circuit model of the lead-acid battery is proposed. This model (for very low frequency operation) consists of a RC network with three time constants in addition to the voltage source and the self-discharge resistance. The model can be used for the analysis of transients and steady states of electrical systems (with batteries). The battery non-linearity (in current and in state of charge) is represented by piecewise linear approximation resulting in different sets of circuit element values of the same model.
