Title :
Semantic Mediation Bus: An Ontology-based Runtime Infrastructure for Service Interoperability
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
In this industry case study, we introduce the concept of semantic mediation that enables service interoperability through common ontologies, even when the services are implemented using different data models and message standards. Leveraging open standards such as Web Ontology Language (OWL) and Semantic Annotations for XML Schema and WSDL (SAWSDL), the Semantic Mediation Bus (SMB) removes the need to perform manual correlation among disparate data sources by extending the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) infrastructure for ontology-based runtime service mediation.
