Abstract :
Semiconductor lasers with time-delayed feedback display fluctuations that range from stochastic to deterministic and provide examples of complex, high-dimensional temporal dynamics. This study describes the measurement of Hurst exponents to characterize the scaling behavior of the phase dynamics for such systems. This work also discusses the evolution of patterns in liquid crystal light modulators with electronic feedback and study the response of these systems to drive signals that demonstrate the phenomenon of generalized synchronization for spatio-temporal systems.
