Abstract
In the UK where automatic standby AC power plants are installed in many small and all medium and large telecommunication centres, the engine control systems are manufactured to British Telecom designs and specifications in order to maintain high service reliability. This paper introduces the new micro-processor engine control system which is replacing the existing solid state monitors and relay logic currently in use with power plants in the range of 3 to 288 kVA. A brief description is given of the original control systems leading to an explanation of the operation and interrogation facilities offered by the new processor. The advantages of remote interrogation is also discussed.
