Abstract
This paper describes the application of a low installed cost microprocessor based controller for the monitoring and control of communication type dc power plants. The maintenance and operating benefits for the power plant is reviewed and a detailed description of the controller´s architecture, interface requirements and functional capabilities is presented. The controller´s features include all functions normally associated with meter and alarm panels as well as binary event logging channels, software programmable voltage alarms and remote access of stored data via a built in modem.
