Abstract :
Shielded planar EM (electromagnetic) analysis is not generally perceived as being an antenna analysis tool. However, a simple technique effectively removes the shielding box. This allows the extreme accuracy (i.e., numerically exact Green´s function efficiently evaluated by an FFT, and perfect port calibration) of a shielded analysis to be applied to planar antenna analysis. The technique is validated by comparison with a free space dipole. The technique is illustrated with an RFID (radio frequency identification) dipole and a parametric analysis of a broad band quasi-log-periodic planar dipole.
